Bocca di Magra is a small town in the province of La Spezia, was born as a fishing village, situated on the right bank of the river. In the village are preserved today, the architectural remains of a villa seen as an important historical artistic testimony. The economic resources of Bocca di Magra, are represented by the traditional activities of fishing (on the pier, you can buy directly from the fishermen, who stop in the vicinity of their vessels, the catch of the day), from tourism, as well as by the presence of several marinas recreational boating and services motorboats comfortable to reach the small coves and hidden beaches, located nearby. A spectacular coastal road, which leads to Lerici, through as the first country Montemarcello, that overlooks both the Gulf of La Spezia that the Val di Magra, and allows you to admire a really nice the Ligurian coast, and then present a steep staircase, which allows to reach the famous beach of Punta Corvo.
Bocca di Magra is known for being a meeting place for writers and intellectuals, such as Cesare Pavese, Giulio Einaudi, Vittorio Sereni, Eugenio Montale, Elio Vittorini, Marguerite Duras, Franco Fortini, but not only; many others chose it as their muse, sometimes dedicating small works, short quotes (this area even spoke Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio) or entire poems, as did Montale in his "The Return".
