Sant'Agata de 'Goti is one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval towns of Italy. Since 2005 he has obtained the orange flag of eco-environmental quality mark awarded by the Italian Touring Club to small municipalities of Italian (maximum 15 000 inhabitants) which are distinguished by an excellent service and a quality welcome. Its architectural heritage is rich and well preserved.
Do not miss: the heritage of churches (10 only in the historical center), rich in frescoes, make Sant'Agata a pearl of art and culture. Among these is the Cathedral, founded in 970, rebuilt in the twelfth century and restored between 1728 and 1755; the church of S. Menna, collection and harmonious from the chancel floor in three short apses. Inside a carpet of cosmateschi mosaics, one of the oldest in southern Italy, rises to surround the choir; the Bishop's Palace, in the cathedral square, is another monument worth mentioning and visiting. His Hall of Emblems, with effigies of 68 bishops, is indicative of the role and importance of the local diocese. In other environments are exposed memorabilia and furnishings related to life and of St. Alphonsus Liguori stay.
The old town, built in tuff, offers a number of services and a wide variety of interesting sites and remarkable from a historical point of view. Good also the options offered with local products and the presence of tourist itineraries also thematic.
The city, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and fruit trees, is in a comfortable position to reach other important tourist destinations such as Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Amalfi, Benevento and Caserta. Just 10 km there are the Terme di Telese, to go for relaxation and wellbeing.
