The building of the hostel is beautiful and its location is perfect. The staff aren't friendly. The WC and shower space are old and not so clean. There wasn't toilet paper some days and the door in women's shower space doesn't lock.

I enjoyed my stay at Student's Hostel Della Ghiara. I had a dorm room for two nights, with only a teacher from Naples in my room for one of the nights. I appreciated the computer terminals for using the internet as I did not bring my mobile phone or a tablet with me. This was my most affordable stay in Italy.\n\nThe 18€ dinner was lovely and at a great price. I complimented the chef, told the staff that the same dinner would have easily cost $40 - $50 in the US depending on how fancy the restaurant was. The dinner service was superb.\n\nI would have appreciated the use of plates and forks for snacks or warming up lunch.

The structure is beautiful, but the areas that host the rooms are quite noisy, with echoes that in the evening and morning hours are really annoying, especially due to the door closing system, since when exiting, it is necessary to pull them hard to get the "clack" of closure. The management is friendly and ensures the constant presence of staff. The breakfast is abundant, but I find it too "industrial" and lacks the availability of organic products.

Beautiful structure, ancient inside the cloister of a church. The single room was very spacious, but all the services were outside, there wasn't even a sink available. Minimal breakfast with packaged products. Low value for money.

We stayed at the Student's Hostel della Ghiara for the national basketball team's match at the PalaBigi. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming, almost family-like. We highly recommend this hostel to all basketball enthusiasts who want to experience something authentic in Reggio Emilia. We were looking for an economical and comfortable accommodation to attend the match at the PalaBigi, and the Student's Hostel della Ghiara fully met our expectations. The structure is simple but well-maintained, with clean rooms and a very pleasant garden. The location is excellent, both for reaching the sports hall which is just outside the door and for visiting the historic center. The quality-price ratio is really interesting. Recommended!

It is commendable how the guys manage this historic structure in Reggio Emilia. Very clean rooms overlooking the Chiara cloister, bed comfort, spacious common areas, friendliness of all the managers, check-in speed, wifi, but above all an excellent value for money that is not found anywhere in Reggio Emilia.

I find this hostel very suitable for those who want to stay in Reggio for a few days. In addition, the managers have their restaurant that attracts the city's youth, so it is a very pleasant atmosphere and the food is excellent.

Great structure for the quality/price ratio, simple rooms in a recovered ancient/cloister building. The breakfast is simple, but okay, if you don't have big expectations and want to spend the right amount it's the correct choice! Excellent location, practically in the city center, 15 minutes walk from the station.

The Student's Hostel della Ghiara overlooks a beautiful ancient cloister with a garden. The staff is courteous, smiling, and always available. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. The price is very advantageous. Moreover, it is in the historic center. I recommend it!

Great experience: the hostel is located in a very central position, just a few minutes from the train station, and it is well-maintained. Stayed for 4 nights. 2 people for 50 euros per night in a room with a private bathroom. Large spaces with corridors and high ceilings, therefore very noisy. Children screaming and voices until late at night. The guests seem to be transient or permanent residents and make me think of individuals waiting for a residence permit or placed by the municipality in need of housing. One person sleeping in the hallway on a couch for two consecutive nights. However, everyone except tourists or pilgrims. Good reception, breakfast with untoasted toast bread and sugary drinks. The price is not convenient compared to bed and breakfast or Airbnb offers. Exotic experience.

Excellent, it's the third time I've stayed at Student's Hostel della Ghiara and I've always had a great time. This year I noticed a particular attention to cleanliness: everything shines! In the evening, I dined with my group in the cloister, we enjoyed the seafood menu and the live music, an excellent duo.

I was looking for an affordable accommodation that would allow me to bring my big bovaro puppy with me, as we were in the area for a gathering of this breed. So, I booked a private room with a bathroom. The room was very basic but clean, with a double bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and bedside tables. The bathroom was clean, though in my opinion poorly lit (the only light above the door was a bit dim and I couldn't find any lighting at the mirror); with a slight disappointment, there is no bidet, only a shower and a sink. The windows overlook the side streets near the church. In the agreed price (35€) for the room, only accommodation with bed linen (sheets and blankets) is included, but not bath linen, there is no "courtesy set" provided, but breakfast is included (buffet style, classic, with bread, rusks, cereals, fruit juice, coffee/milk&co). The structure is located in a courtyard of a historic building, very beautiful and well-maintained, and also has a restaurant (where I had dinner, a 20 euro menu with dishes to choose from the menu, and I must say very good). My beast and I were greeted with great courtesy, unfortunately, I had some difficulties with parking access because, not due to the managers, the entire area was requisitioned by the municipality for a sports event, parking included. We had to struggle a bit, but in the end, we managed to solve everything. My bovarotto was able to stay with me both in the room, at the restaurant, and in the breakfast room without any problem. Overall, despite the sports event that lasted until late at night and resumed quite early the next morning, there was not too much disturbance in terms of music and noise, I expected worse from this point of view.

Beautiful and charming cloister in the heart of Reggio Emilia, fascinating structure. Unfortunately, the services, even though it is a hostel, could be much better: the beds are uncomfortable and very spartan; the cleanliness of the rooms and, especially, the bathrooms is inadequate. The breakfast is very frugal, nothing fresh. You pay very little, but the services offered do not meet European standards: with the same amounts, you can get much more. In short, great potential, but there is work to be done.

Useful and well located because it's close to the heart of Reggio. The room was very cold. The bathrooms were clean, as was the room. The breakfast was a bit poor and the WI-FI connection was poor, especially in the rooms, especially when using Notebooks and tablets. For smartphones, the connection was acceptable. The staff ok.

I was in Reggio Emilia for work and I stayed at this hostel because I prefer family-like situations rather than the impersonality of hotels. The room was very spartan but clean, good breakfast and wonderful location. The restaurant run by Max offers a truly remarkable fish tasting at competitive prices. Only downside: the deodorant in the room was really overpowering, I had to turn it off and ventilate continuously.

We stayed at the Ghiara Hostel from 08 to 21 April. We had booked a double room with private bathroom, and upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find that we had been assigned the apartment composed of a kitchen area equipped with everything "plates, oven, fridge, dishes, cutlery, plates, sugar, salt and even dish detergent", table with 4 chairs, equipped wall, sleeping area with wardrobe and double bed column and cot, and the bathroom found very clean and cleaned frequently like the apartment. Every 5 days the sheets were changed, the breakfast included in the price is nothing to envy to a hotel and includes: toast, jams, butter, yogurt, milk, tea, sliced bread, cornflakes, coffee machine, cappuccino etc., fruit juice machine, toaster and microwave. The restaurant's kitchen is of the highest quality and offers 2 menus based on very fresh fish and shellfish from € 15 to 20, excellent cappelletti in broth, exceptional beef fillet and veal cutlet, also excellent vegetable sides or baked potatoes. Beautiful outdoor space where you can dine or have an aperitif. During our stay there were meetings for children including the children's book party and various workshops organized excellently. On Sundays you can have lunch outside with a buffet at € 8 for adults and € 5 for children. A beautiful and unique experience that we recommend to everyone and we can't wait to go back. Excellent location in the center where you can find everything. We met wonderful people, a great family, we miss you. Fantastic structure, ancient but completely renovated, quiet and charming. The staff working at the reception is really friendly and helpful. I slept in a dormitory with 5 beds and only one was occupied, so everything went well. Clean bathrooms always equipped with toilet paper and soap; the shower was not too hot (perhaps I chose the wrong time and many had already used it before me). The breakfast is very basic, but it is already a great luxury to have it included in the modest room rate. In general, a friendly and multicultural environment, everyone greets each other and becomes friends easily, in the true spirit of a hostel! Recommended.
