The Refuge of the Gods harmoniously fits into the natural context of Positano, a place where the elegance of local architecture blends with the serenity of the surrounding environment. Originating from a rural farmhouse of the 19th century, built with passion by the family’s great-grandfather, this corner of paradise was skillfully renovated in 2007, maintaining the distinctive characteristics of typical constructions of the Amalfi Coast, such as the vaulted ceilings and chestnut wood lintels.
Located in the characteristic neighborhood of Arienzo, the refuge is accessible via a staircase that, amidst the aromas of the Mediterranean scrub, leads to an extraordinary panorama overlooking Positano, the island of Li Galli, and the enchanting outline of Capri. Nestled in an olive grove and surrounded by a coppice forest, the Refuge of the Gods offers three mini-apartments – Poseidon, Dionysus, and Aphrodite – tastefully and soberly furnished, perfectly in tune with the territory. Each apartment features an independent entrance and a private garden-sun terrace where guests can enjoy moments of relaxation embraced by breathtaking views.
The deeply rooted family tradition is palpable in every corner of the refuge, where Nonno Elia’s family, composed of his daughter Anna and his grandchildren, welcomes visitors in a warm and convivial atmosphere. Here, the tranquility of the surrounding nature allows the rediscovery of authentic local traditions, so skillfully handed down over time. The breakfast, served in a room on the ground floor, can be enjoyed in an intimate setting in front of the fireplace or on the large panoramic terrace, where the summer sun adds a special touch to the day.
The Refuge of the Gods also represents an ideal gateway to embark on memorable excursions. The Arienzo staircase leads to the village of Nocelle and the renowned Path of the Gods, an 11 km trail that offers unforgettable experiences. For those who wish to explore further, the High Path of the Lattari Mountains offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks in the Lattari Mountains Park. Nearby, lies the Vallone Porto Oasis, a magical place that enchants with its waterfalls and dense vegetation.
After a day of adventures, guests can retreat to the beautiful Arienzo beach, one of the most beautiful in the area, just a few minutes' walk away. The Refuge of the Gods thus proposes itself as a retreat of peace and beauty, where nature, culture, and tradition intertwine in the heart of the Amalfi Coast.
