The Tonnara Foderà di Magazzinazzi stands majestically along the picturesque shoreline that separates Alcamo Marina from Castellammare del Golfo, a place steeped in history and beauty. This structure, dating back to the early 1900s and belonging to the historic Foderà Family, represents a deep connection to the fishing tradition and the culture of the area. The Tonnara takes its name from the adjacent valley, which is also flourishing and charming, washed by the San Bartolomeo River.

The family, custodian of a history that informs the social and cultural fabric of the area, not only passionately manages the Tonnara Foderà but also owns a significant share of the ancient Tonnara di Scopello. Under their management, the heritage of other tonnara in the Trapanese and Libya is carefully preserved. Guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this history through site tours, available by reservation, which offer an authentic glimpse into the life of one of Sicily's historic families.

The elegant manor house, distributed over two levels, also houses a picturesque watchtower. In the past, this tower had the crucial task of monitoring the sea to ensure the safety of the nearby tonnara. The areas dedicated to hospitality include the TORRETTA, which offers two seafront rooms, each with a private bathroom. Located on the second and third floors, the rooms are independent and can be rented separately, allowing guests to enjoy maximum privacy and comfort. The room on the second floor includes an anteroom with an additional third bed available at an extra cost, while the room on the third floor is equipped with a complete kitchen and dining area, ideal for those who desire greater autonomy.

The building carries centuries of stories within its walls – once a bustling tuna fishermen's workplace, its history can still be felt in every corner. The art collections add a unique touch, and the sea views are simply unbeatable, with a breeze you won’t find anywhere else. Just 10 minutes from Castellammare del Golfo, the location is ideal.\n\nThat said, I truly wish the management would invest more in cleanliness, proper staffing, and aligning the cost with the actual guest experience. It’s a place worth seeing once for its history and charm, but one night is enough.

Teniamo conto di ogni commento e di ogni segnalazione. Per noi è importante avere un feedback anche se spesso chi soggiorna da noi non conosce alcune peculiarità del luogo e della gestione, per cui le critiche non appaiono pertinenti. Infatti la Tonnara non è un hotel e non è un BB. E' una proprietà di famiglia, aperta all'ospitalità in modo semplice, senza servizi, per condividere il luogo con gli altri e per supportare le ingenti spese della manutenzione. Provvediamo costantemente all'upgrading del luogo, che migliorerà day by day, ma siamo anche impegnati economicamente al restauro dell'altra parte della proprietà. Il voto di 4 al rapporto qualità prezzo è ingiusto e non veritiero, considerando che le camere sono estremamente grandi, che vi è un ampio fronte mare senza folla, un ampio giardino con prato ben curato, un parcheggio gratuito dentro la proprietà, e due ristoranti limitrofi, oltre ad un meraviglioso tramonto! Prezzi anche più alti di questo si trovano in molte strutture omologate e prive di fascino, dove però magari voi sareste stati meglio.

We fell in love with this beautiful place and how it has been restored maintaining all the original features. It is such a gem for design lovers and what a treat to spend a few days during the low season when it was just us in the house.

The Tonnara Foderà is a wonderful and unique building. You can tell that there is a great care put into keeping the house, its garden and beachfront beautiful and prestine clean. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and benefit from an incredible view of the sea. We had an excellent time and really enjoyed staying in such a special and unique place. The communication with the host was very easy and friendly and on site we were very well received. There are a few restaurants right next to the house as well as a cafe/bar which is very convenient. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we are looking forward to coming back to the Tonnara!

A superb site although poorly maintained and surrounded by abandoned factories. A very simple little house whose basic layout is a bit dated and not always clean. A Robinson Crusoe stay!

The decoration and maintenance choices of the building are entirely relevant as they create a charm and a vintage atmosphere as if time were suspended. The views and framings of the sea are very successful. The ceiling heights, the generosity of the volumes, and the furniture make this building an exceptional place to live. Too bad the hosts are so uncommunicative (no information about the quality of tap water, the pollution of sea water and the ban on swimming, we discovered it too late).

La ringraziamo per il commento e per le osservazioni che ci aiutano a migliorare l'ospitalità. Per prima cosa, non vi è un divieto di fare il bagno ed infatti tutti noi facciamo il bagno ogni giorno. Il cartello si riferisce ad una ordinanza che riguarda la spiaggia limitrofa al fiume San Bartolomeo, ma poichè l'unico accesso a quella spiaggia è vicino alla proprietà, il cartello è stato affisso vicino da noi. Riguardo l'acqua, la proprietà è dotata dovunque di erogatori di acqua potabile a cui si può accedere liberamente. Mi dispiace se non c'è stata occasione di parlare, ma è difficile instaurare una buona comunicazione con gli ospiti che soggiornano solo una notte.

Very positive stay! Beautiful structure and very livable rooms with the sound of the waves in the background. Going there in February, the only thing to reconsider is the heating, but I must admit that you can organize yourself. We will return in the summer!

The structure is charming, for its location and history. You can see the attempt to adapt a structure born to be a Tonnara into a Bed and Breakfast, but there are still many interventions to be made. There is a lack of customer attention details that require minimal effort but would make the stay more comfortable. Also, in terms of comfort in the room, there are improvements to be made to make the structure more welcoming. Alternatively, lower the room rates because the price paid is not consistent with the services received and the room offer. Definitely a location of great charm and impact, to be improved in some details and in customer attention.

Salvetti, stiamo lavorando incessantemente per rendere la proprietà più accogliente, e senz'altro migliorerà ancora, dopo averla riscattata dal degrado in cui si trovava, ma in realtà noi non pensiamo affatto di trasformare la Tonnara in un BB. Al contrario, desideriamo mantenere il posto così come è, evitando le solite omologazioni. Per questo non troverà mai un'accoglienza alberghiera. Anche perchè strutture di questo tipo sul mare hanno prezzi altissimi, perchè i costi di gestione sono inverosimili. Consideri inoltre che è di per sè un lusso potere dormire sul mare, avere un rigoglioso giardino con parcheggio privato, quiete e storia, a prescindere da "servizi" che da noi non troverà mai.

We stayed in the top floor turret. Unfortunately, no one expected luxury, but given the fantastic location 10 meters from the shore and the tranquility of the place, some minimal maintenance of the interiors is necessary. It's fine to keep the original fixtures and doors, of course, but broken tiles (also dangerous because raised by 1 cm from the floor level!) and walls with falling plaster are not acceptable. The real gem is the garden, very beautiful and lovingly cared for. We still had a very good time.

The structure is incredibly charming, at times a bit run down. From the room, you can constantly hear the sound of the sea lulling you to sleep and entering your room. However, the cleanliness of the rooms and linen leaves much to be desired. Additionally, breakfast is not provided by the managers, and it is not easy to find bars and shops in the immediate vicinity.

It's really the case to say a window on the sea! Beautiful experience, breathtaking view, it's worth climbing the stairs! An oasis of tranquility, privacy, and absolute relaxation. You fall asleep lulled by the lapping of the waves. A dream.

The structure could be beautiful, if it were maintained and managed differently. It is in a fantastic location, on the beach with plenty of space available. But starting from the steps at the entrance, it is rather neglected. We never met a host. We were greeted, after wandering through the building, by a non-EU citizen who did not speak a language known to most. Subsequently, a compatriot of his, slightly less unprepared, arrived and showed us to our accommodation. The room on the top floor offers a breathtaking view. Peeling plaster, non-existent wardrobe, window fixtures more than worn. To reach our accommodation with a kitchen in front of the room and a bathroom on the lower floor, without an external key, so that anyone could have access, we had to pass through the first floor, where there was the accommodation of non-EU citizens with cats and visible litter boxes, an ironing board on display and the relative rubbish bin. The beach in front of the structure could have been cleaned of materials brought in by the sea and minimally equipped, since there were sun loungers for free use. Everything felt abandoned, except for a rectangle of garden in front of the entrance that was daily maintained by staff. It could be truly splendid if they took care of it.
