Villa Magnolia is rich in architectural elements of the early twentieth century, a period in which it was built together with the final version of the small station of Pisa San Rossore which was used by the royal family to go to the hunting estate of San Rossore, which is a couple of kilometers far from Villa and which is now a large nature reserve that can be visited by bike or on horseback
In December 1998, during the works for the construction of a building below the station, traces of a Roman port began to emerge from the excavations. This discovery, of exceptional archaeological importance due to the incredible state of conservation, gave birth to the Museum of Ancient Ships of Pisa which can be visited near the Villa
In the immediate vicinity are also the ancient hospital of Santa Chiara, still home to the Faculty of MEDICINE and the Faculty of ENGINEERING
