B&B Il Giardino dei Poeti and Apartments

I chose this spot because my service dog could be here and this was a perfect spot to stay for several days and enjoy the tranquility of Lucca and Viareggio. It looks like a very new property because it is well kept, including the lush green garden! If you have a car you can see more by day like the other guests. The property was fantastic by the farmland and foothills of the scenic green mountains. The backyard was very spacious if you have a dog or kids with a water spicket and clothes line to hang beach towels or handwashed clothes. There is no washing machine, but I brought clothes easy to wash and dry in half a day with the summer heat. The AC blows cold, water pressure hot/cold in the shower is fantastic, beautiful spacious rooms with high ceilings and two windows which open up and have shutters to angle the sun/breeze to your preference, clean linens and towels. The host he is very accommodating and helpful. I don't eat breakfast before 11am, but it was good to have hard-boiled eggs and an apple each morning. Other guests enjoyed the cheese and meat platter, fresh juice, yogurt, croissants, toast and jam, and muffins, tea and coffee/espresso that the host arranged. The host also has available for a small fee local red and white wine, sodas, water. I came without a car and found it very walkable to bus stops (3-minute - 8-minute walks), 10-minute walk to the grocery store Coop with a bancomat/atm inside during business hours), 6 minutes to a pizzeria, cafe, gelato, another gelateria 10 min walk. Bus ride is 10 minutes to Lucca center/bus/train station or 35-45 minutes to the beach. I did have to watch my timing in the evenings due to buses stop at 7 p.m. weekdays and have limited pickup locations on weekends for the same weekday routes to Lucca center. It worked out best to stay my first night inside Lucca center and walk the streets in the cool evenings after a 9:30 pm dinner and walk and sightsee 2/3rds of the tranquil Lucca center until midnight. Then at sunrise walk the remaining side of Lucca before the sun became intense at 9:30 am. This is for August. ~Cece (I will definitely be back here!!)

If there is a vacancy, grab it. Hosts very generous, especially as it is a little way to Lucca centre, 20-minute walk. Hosts often drove us around. Buses, trains nearby for Pisa, Florence etc. Garden to sit in beautiful.

I had a great stay with Livio. Very friendly, excellent English, great communication via WhatsApp prior to our stay. Excellent value for money, spotlessly clean. Beautiful self-catering room with plenty of space. Beautiful outdoor space. A very peaceful place to stay but close to Lucca and local bars and cafes within walking distance. Thank you, Livio, we will return.

Simple accommodation but clean and with all the necessary furnishings, and with a charming garden, 30 minutes walk to the city center of Lucca.

A wonderful and especially clean accommodation, in a very quiet location, but still close to the attractions and especially a wonderful host!

Very nice structure, in a quiet, silent location and equipped with a beautiful garden where one can relax. Very convenient to reach the city center. The manager is nice and helpful, he gave us useful directions for taking some walks and recommendations for the restaurants in the city!

I recommend it to anyone, excellent location, clean and very friendly staff. Its position allows you to reach the sea in half an hour and the center of Lucca in 10 minutes.

Strategic location outside city traffic, with a better breakfast you can make the leap in quality.

It was a great stay, meeting my expectations. The apartment was comfortable and very clean. In a quiet location, quite close to the entrance of the walls and the historic center. Flavio was very kind and gave us valuable advice on places to visit. I would definitely recommend it!

Excellent accommodation just outside Lucca (2 km from the walls). Beautiful recently renovated apartment, equipped with a functional bathroom, small kitchenette and dining area, private parking space. The manager is kind and helpful.

Excellent in everything, no need to say more. I highly recommend it.

Livio is a good host and also provides explanations about the surroundings. The room is small but fine and it's very nice to also be able to sit in the garden. The environment is beautiful, we went cycling to Lucca and Pisa.

Nice B&B with friendly and involved hosts who can tell you all about the area.
