Pathirion B&B

B&B Pathirion, located in a serene, rural location.  The lower section of the property below the house has a panoramic view of the countryside and the Ionian Sea. Our room was a pretty guest house adjacent to the main house where the hosts, Rossana and Antonio live, w/ 2 cats & a fluffy, short-legged dog.  Our “casita” was very comfortable, furnished with lovely eclectic pieces, and informative pamphlets, maps and books about the surrounding Ionian Sea terrain -Jonicosilane. The advantage of this location is that it sits between the town of Corigliano Calabro that is topped by a fabulous Ducal Castle and the town to the south, Rossano, housed inside the Diocesian museum is the Codex Purpureus (purple codex)  brought by monks fleeing Palestine- books of Mathew and part of Mark written in silver ink on purple paper and the Madonna Archtropita, a venerated 9th century Byzantine fresco-painted by angels-according to the Greek inscription, located in the main cathedral Not to mention the namesake of our B&B Pathirion-that sits high above in a vast pine forest-the abbey of Santa Maria del Patire, established in 1095. Built during the norman period, the church has three apses, that make a unique and very photogenic architectural statement as you approach the grounds of the abbey. Later that day we discovered that the two near by restaurants were closed, so Antonio led us to trattoria/pizzeria-Appocolisse-in Rossano that evening.  The antipasta was very good, a meal in itself!  We noticed the two guys next to us adjusted their order after trying to finish their antipasta. We also thought it best to cancel one of our pasta dishes that would follow, and then could not do justice even to that.  Breakfast the next morning was served in our host’s kitchen. We were treated to Rossana’s homemade marmalade from Antonio’s family’s citrus grove. Since it was January, there was an abundance of mandarini-tangerines, absolutely delicious! We felt very lucky to have found such a fantastic B&B!

Ottima posizione, gentilezza della signora Rossana. La ringrazio per la sua ospitalità. Tutto molto rilassante.

Struttura ottimamente gestita, che garantisce confort, privacy e riposo assoluto. La signora Rossana e il marito gentili e cordiali, pronti ad indirizzare e a consigliare i viaggiatori. Si vede che questo lavoro viene svolto con passione. La posizione collinare, sempre comunque vicina al mare, garantisce silenzio e riservatezza. Le camere sono situate in due strutture a sè stanti, separate dalla casa dei proprietari, nel giardino, quindi si entra e si esce in completa autonomia. Consiglio vivamente la struttura a chi vuole passare qualche giorno nella zona di Rossano.

B&B molto bello in una zona tranquilla e a pochi minuti di macchina dal mare. Le colazioni abbondanti, con ottimi dolci e marmellate fatte in casa, serviti nel giardino sotto l'ombra di una stupenda quercia. La signora Rossana molto gentile e disponibile ci ha consigliato tanti luoghi da visitare per rendere la nostra vacanza ancora più bella, consigliatissimo.

Ambiente, pulizia e cortesia oltre le normali aspettative. La colazione con preparata dalla Signora di casa sono ottimi ed abbondanti. Le stanze sono accoglienti ordinate e dotate di tutto l'occorrente. I proprietari davvero delle brave persone. 10 e lode.

Ottimo per passare dei momenti in completo relax, sotto quella stupenda quercia poi... Peccato che sono stato pochissimo. Consigliatissimo.
